In Hebrew, a tzadik is someone who experiences only the love and awe of God, without material temptations. Jesus encourages all of us to become a tzadik (plural, tzadikim). In the story of the rich, young man, he asked Jesus what he needed to do to have eternal life. Jesus responded that he should sell all he has and follow him. The man went away sad because he had many possessions (Matthew 19:16-22). Put God first. All the rest will fall into place.
