In business parlance, delegated authority is an authority obtained from another who has authority, typically involving the transfer of responsibility for a task from a supervising employee to another employee. It’s a win-win for both sides, enabling business leaders to effectively manage their workload and helping team members develop new skills. But whether you’ve ever been a part of a business or not, you’ve experienced delegated authority. Jesus delegated his power and authority to drive out demons and to cure diseases first to his twelve disciples (Luke 9:1-2). It didn’t end there, however. He gives all of us power and authority to cast out demons, lay hands on the sick and overcome all the other works of the devil (Luke 10:19) as well as to preach the Gospel in the name of Jesus. Be useful to the Kingdom; use your authority.
